Technical products have a common marketing problem: the clever part is on the inside. A photo shows the housing and a spec sheet lists the components, but neither shows how they fit together or why the design matters. A 3D exploded view animation does both. The product opens up part by part, each component is named on screen, and then everything clicks back into place, so a buyer understands the engineering in a few seconds. We’re a 3D product animation studio in London, working with manufacturers and tech brands across the UK, US and Europe.
What we made
This showreel brings together five short 3D product animations made in our London studio: a space telescope, a star tracker, a satellite reaction wheel, an industrial lamp and a geared motor. Each one starts as a sealed product, separates into its parts along clean axes, and reassembles. The products are concept and spec pieces created in-house to show the technique, not commissioned work.
We gave every film its own look so they never feel like one template: deep navy for the telescope, a starfield with the curve of the atmosphere for the star tracker, a graphite clean room for the reaction wheel, warm graphite with amber for the lamp and cool steel for the motor. The reel is cut to the beat of a single music track, with part callouts on the opening film and a clean end card.
How a 3D exploded view animation is built
- Model: we work from your CAD files (STEP, IGES or native formats) or build the model from drawings and photos.
- Materials and light: photoreal metals, plastics, glass and coatings in Blender, lit like a product shoot.
- Animation: the explode and assembly sequence, timed so each part has a moment, with camera moves that guide the eye.
- Callouts: clean labels and lower thirds for the features your sales team talks about.
- Delivery: 16:9 for websites, YouTube and trade show screens, 9:16 for LinkedIn, Reels and Shorts, plus stills for brochures.
Where it works best
Exploded view animation suits any product whose value is hard to see from the outside: industrial machinery, gearboxes and motors, lighting, electronics, medical devices, aerospace and space hardware. Manufacturers and engineering firms in the UK, US and Europe use it on product pages, in sales presentations, at trade shows and in investor decks. Because the film is rendered, not filmed, it can show a product before the first unit is built, and the same 3D scene can be reused for new angles, variants and stills.
